EDUCATION

Specific requirements must be met in order to attend school in Kenya. Those requirements cost money, thus negatively affecting the poorest of the poor. The lack of education leads to perpetual poverty. The government requires the children to wear uniforms and this, along with school fees are a huge burden for parents. Those that are poverty stricken struggle with keeping food on the table and a roof over their heads so education is not a priority. Without an education their are destined to continue the cycle of poverty generation after generation.

By offering scholarships to those unable to afford to attend school, the very poor have the opportunity for a Christian education. The children are able to learn about Jesus and salvation, in addition to regular studies. They attend 8 months out of the year, 5 - 6 days a week. Of course, there would be no sponsorships without the generosity of sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities are available. They begin with the Feeding Program which provides food for a child for $15 per month to sponsoring a child to attend elementary school for $50 per month.
